English @ WHCI

At West Humber Collegiate, the English department strives to combine a rigorous approach to improving literacy with unique and engaging activities that help students develop into creative and critical thinkers.  Students read a variety of new and classic texts from numerous genres, and complete meaningful evaluations that are challenging and fun.   Our teachers work hard to ensure that West Humber students become clear writers, dynamic speakers, and discerning listeners.

The department offers a number of optional courses for senior students that will help them polish the crucial skills that post-secondary institutions seek in prospective students, namely Introduction to Media Studies in grade 11, and The Writers Craft in grade 12.   Our classrooms are dynamic and welcoming multimedia environments where student expression is valued, encouraged and honed to a fine degree.
